Overview

The Catering Management module is a full event-catering business system. It manages events, menus, packages, dietary requirements, allergen tracking, and menu item categorisation — covering everything from initial booking to menu finalisation.

Business value

Centralises catering operations inside the CRM so event details, menu selections, and dietary constraints are linked to the client record and visible across the team.

  • Who uses it: Event planners, catering managers, kitchen staff, sales
  • Key benefit: Eliminates manual spreadsheets for event catering; all requirements are tracked in one place and linked to invoicing.
  • Metrics it influences: Events booked, menu package revenue, allergen compliance rate

Typical use cases:

  • Create a corporate lunch event with a custom menu and 3 dietary variants (vegan, gluten-free, standard)
  • Build a menu package for a wedding (starter, main, dessert) with per-head pricing
  • Flag allergens on menu items so kitchen staff see them at a glance
  • Generate a client-facing event summary with menu details

Key concepts

Concept Description
Event A catering booking with date, client, guest count, and event type
Event Type Category label (corporate, wedding, private party, etc.)
Menu A named collection of sections and items for an event
Menu Package A bundled selection (e.g. 3-course set menu) with a fixed price
Menu Item An individual dish with description, allergens, and dietary tags
Section Groups items within a menu (starter, main, dessert, drinks)
Allergen Tracked per item (gluten, nuts, dairy, etc.)
Dietary Type Labels (vegan, vegetarian, halal, etc.) applied to items or packages

Common actions

  1. Create an event — set client, date, guest count, and event type.
  2. Build a menu — add sections, then add menu items with allergen and dietary flags.
  3. Create a package — bundle items into a fixed-price package and attach it to an event.
  4. Manage event types — define your catering categories in settings.
  5. Manage allergens — maintain a master allergen list used across all menus.
  6. Manage dietary types — define dietary labels applied to items.
Tip

Build reusable menu packages with fixed per-head pricing and attach them to events — this avoids re-entering menus from scratch for each booking and ensures consistent pricing across similar events.

Note

Allergen flags on menu items are visible to kitchen staff at a glance. Maintain the allergen master list before building menus so every item is correctly tagged — incomplete allergen data is a compliance risk.
